Guides

All our guides are 100% authentic local Andeans, and they love their occupation. They are happy to share their local knowledge, and they will be thrilled to show you around the Chilean Andes. They all have been skiing/boarding the Andes, its ski areas, and its backcountry for many years. All our guides are bilingual professional skiers and snowboarders that are trained in ski and/or snowboard instruction, mountain safety procedures, snow stability evaluation techniques, and customer service.

Safety Measures

All guides will remain in constant communication with each other, the rest of the group, and Chilean Ski Patrol via two-way radio. Guides will carry first aid kits and other safety tools in their backpacks. When going into the backcountry, A.P.T. guides will provide each client with a small backpack, digital avalanche transceiver, shovel, avalanche probe, and will train you in the use of them. A.P.T. guides will conduct regular snow pack and snow stability evaluations, and will regularly check the general snow pack conditions with Chilean Ski Patrol. Using meteorological data given by Chilean Weather Agencies, snow pits and other compound snow stability procedures, A.P.T. guides will carefully monitor the snow conditions. This will allow A.P.T. guides to take you to the best snow of the day in the safest manner.
